COIRÓN
Coirón (noun) /ˈkɔɪ.rɒn/: The native grass of the Patagonian pampa, enduring wind, cold, drought, and poor soil, surviving where little else does.
In the far south of Chilean Patagonia, a dwindling group of men known as ‘puesteros’ live in near solitude, tending livestock across vast near-abandoned ranches. Once seen as symbols of freedom, their way of life now stands at a turning point, amidst unprecedented drought, modernisation, and a system that offers no real retirement, forcing many to work for as long as their bodies allow.
Their interweaving stories reveal an intimate portrait of men living at the edge of the world, pushing through because they must. A meditation on stillness, human resilience and the inevitable passing of time.
